At McCook Therapy and Wellness our mission is to “Move You to Wellness” by combining skilled rehabilitation services with our 24 hour fitness/wellness facility. The primary goal of McCook Therapy is to help you recover or retain the functionality you deserve. As an independent practice, our clients are our number one concern and priority.

 

McCook Therapy and Wellness is our area’s only therapy clinic equipped with a 24-hour fitness facility. This allows for the ability to continue on your path of wellness after you have achieved your therapy specific goals providing “specialization not just generalization”. Individuals seeking wellness and fitness training can progress with their workout program with the comfort of having experienced therapists and coaches on staff to help with any fitness questions or concerns. You will never be overlooked or underappreciated in our clinic. Our offices are conveniently located with excellent parking and facilities for your comfort and convenience.

AMY HEUMILLER, OT/L  |  Occupational Therapist

A native of Salem, South Dakota, Amy graduated from Salem High School in 1985. She received her prerequisites at South Dakota State University in Brookings, and received her Bachelor of Science Degree for Occupational Therapy in 1990 from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated Cum Laude from Creighton and has been a practicing licensed Occupational Therapist since 1990.

 

Amy has experience in several areas including but not limited to Outpatient Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Long Term Care, Home Health, and Pediatrics. Amy has received specialized training in Shoulder and Hand rehab, Medically Complex disease management such as Cardiopulmonary and Cancer rehab, and is a Master Clinician in Dementia Care for those with cognitive decline from Alzheimers, Stroke and Head Injuries.

 

When not helping her clients, Amy enjoys spending time with family and friends, supporting local athletics and community efforts, Zumba, crafts, and reading. Amy, her husband Ron, and their five children continue to make Salem their home.

ALLISON POTTER, DPT  |  Physical Therapist

A native of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Allison graduated from Roncalli High School in 2012. She attended Dakota State University and received her Bachelor of Science Degree for Biology in 2016. Allison was also a member of the Trojan volleyball team during her time at DSU. Allison graduated from the University of South Dakota in 2019 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Her special interests include sports medicine and rehabilitation, shoulder and knee pathology, manual therapy, and balance disorders. Outside of work, she enjoys helping out on the farm, participating in outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.

PAIGE HEIBERGER, PTA  |  Physical Therapy Assistant 

A native of Clear Lake, SD, Paige graduated from Deuel High School in 2013. She attended Lake Area Technical Institute where she graduated from the Physical Therapy Assistant program in 2015. Paige has experience in Outpatient Physical Therapy. Her special interests include sports medicine and rehabilitation, balance training, and knee pathology. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family and friends at the lake, golfing, and hunting.

TISHA SECHSER, COTA  |  Occupational Therapy Assistant

A native of Salem, South Dakota, Tisha graduated from McCook Central high school in 2014. She attended Lake Area Technical Institute where she graduated from the Occupational Therapy Assistant program in 2017. Tisha completed her first Level II fieldwork here at McCook Therapy and Wellness where she gained knowledge and skills in orthopedic and stroke rehab. She completed her second Level II fieldwork at the Hartford, Humboldt, and Lennox schools where she worked with children ranging from 1 to 18 years old. Tisha is passionate about working with pediatrics in areas such as fine motor development, sensory integration, and emotional regulation. She passed her national exam in September of 2017 and became a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Her next step is to become certified in Physical Agent Modalities. Outside of work, Tisha enjoys going to concerts, outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends.

COURTNEY VANMOER | Office Manager

A native of Lesterville, South Dakota, Courtney graduated from Menno high school in 2011. She attended Southeast Technical Institute for business and marketing.  Courtney is passionate about customer service and building relationships with customers as well as marketing. Being the first impression of McCook Therapy and Wellness is extremely fun to her, she always tries to put a smile on everyone’s face when they walk through the door.  Outside of work, Courtney enjoys going hunting, outdoor activities and concerts as well as hanging out with her cats and dogs.
